You’ve been training for how long and why did you start ?

I've been training for going on 16 yrs. I got into powerlifting first because I noticed my lifts went up rather quick, so I entered my first powerlifting meet and won. I have been competing ever since. At about 30 years old I got involved in grappling and kick boxing.

What is your athletic background? Any particular achievement ?

I am nationaly ranked in the US and hold 2 state records in the deadlift and have won numerous championships in the bench press. My best to date is 445 @ 181 and I recently did 440 @ 179.

What’s your general philosophy in life ? How does training help you in your daily life ?

Live life to the fullest and treat others as you would want to be treated. Training has made a huge impact on my life. It has made an avenue for all the friends I have made and my family and kids follow my footsteps towards a healthy life style.

What is your motivation as an athlete? Who’s the person who has influenced / motivated you the most ? Why ?

Trying to always becomes better motivates me. My strongest motivation has been my dad. He was also heavily into sports and to this day is in top shape.

What kind of training, diet and supplement strategy brought you the best results for fat loss ?

The best training for me has been a mixture of westside barbell training and oldschool basic. It has been what I have used for years to add mass, but I use my light cardio sessions and diet to rip me up. That's how I compete as a powerlifter but stay so lean. Diet is key for fat loss. With a sound diet, you can go far.

What kind of training, diet and supplement strategy brought you the best results for muscle gain ?

The same... Westside/Old school. I use a high protein moderate carb/fat. I actually go 50/30/20. It works for me and my clients. I do stagger carbs though so somy protein would stay consistent, carbs would stagger over the course of 3 days then bump back up. Fat would be mostly from flax, fish oil, olive oil, etc. As for supplements, creatine, glutamine and multi's.

What are your strong points (lift or performance and/or bodypart ) ?

Abs and arms are my strong points and my best lifts are bench press and deadlift.

According to you, who is (or who are) the best reference regarding training, nutrition… ?

The best for me personally would have to be Poliquin. He has great articles. Also you have to read as much as possible. I mostly get info either from continuing education or reading research papers done with real world results.
